IBM unveils Net-savvy PCs

IBM announced two sleek new PCs as part of its new NetVista line of Internet-friendly devices.

Code-named Luxor, the first system features an all-in-one design that integrates its major components into the backside of its 15″ flat panel display, including seven USB ports, two low-profile PCI slots and a wireless local-area network option for home or small business users.

The second, code-named Stardust, is a “legacy-free” PC for the corporate market that eliminates the ISA bus, serial and parallel ports and the floppy drive and features three USB ports, along with a docking cradle for handhelds, such as IBM’s Palm OS-based Workpad line.
