IBM unveils slim server appliance

IBM released a new slim server appliance featuring a stripped-down version of Windows 2000 designed for delivering Web pages.

Code-named Pinehurst, the Netfinity A100 is 1.75 inches thick – a measurement known as 1U – and features two 650MHz Pentium III processors.

The device is aimed at Internet service providers or companies who need to set up dozens or hundreds of the machines to deal with requests pouring in from the Internet.
