AOL unveils Netscape browser, Net appliances

In his keynote address at the Internet World 2000 conference in Los Angeles, America Online Chairman and CEO Steve Case unveiled the preview release of the latest version of Netscape’s Web browser.

The long-awaited Netscape 6 browser – which runs on so-called “Gecko” technology – will work on Windows, Macintosh, and Linux operating systems, and supports Internet standards such as XML.

Case also introduced new Internet appliances, including a flexible Net appliance designed for consumers’ kitchens and a wireless Web pad, complete with an onboard camera.
