Intel warns of Coppermine shortage - again

Intel has notified PC manufacturers and distributors of a major shortage of Coppermine processors that will continue until June, according to The Register.

The shortage – blamed on packaging issues and yield problems with Intel’s flip chip technology – will be particularly severe for chips running at speeds over 700MHz.

The news is the latest in a series of problems, including chip and motherboard shortages, that have plagued the Coppermine since its release last year.
