Intel delays new Celerons

A manufacturing backlog has forced Intel to delay the introduction of several new desktop Celeron chips by two months.

The new 633MHz and 667MHz processors, originally scheduled to be announced next week, instead will debut in June along with Intel’s 700MHz Celeron to ensure wide retail availability, sources said.

The launch dates remain unchanged for other processors, such as Intel’s 700MHz mobile Pentium III and 550MHz mobile Celeron chips, both of which are due out next week.
