AMD revs up Corvette

AMD said it plans to ship a mobile version of its Athlon microprocessor in the second half of the year.

While declining to reveal the speed of the chip, code-named Corvette, the company did say it will complement the Mustang, a desktop version of the same processor also due out in the second half.

The Sunnyvale, Calif. chip maker also demonstrated the upcoming AMD-760 chipset, which supports double-data-rate SDRAM memory, at the Windows Hardware Engineering 2000 conference in New Orleans.
