Game developer Id Software announced that a security flaw in Quake III Arena could leave players’ computers open to attack.
Discovered last week, the flaw could allow an attacker running a Quake III server to read and write to any player’s computer connecting to that server.
The company repaired the flaw in its latest patch release, Version 1.17, which is incompatible with earlier, insecure versions of the game. The release is available at www.quake3arena.com.
