Sony announced a U.S. launch date of Oct. 26 for its PlayStation2 game console.
The next-generation system will retail for $299, with a controller, multiport and 8MB memory card available for $34 extra. Software titles will sell for $49.
The company said the new system, released in Japan earlier this year, will support the existing PlayStation software catalog of more than 800 titles.
