Apple shows off dual-processor G4

Apple Computer demonstrated a dual-processor Power Mac G4 prototype running Mac OS X, according to sources at the company’s Worldwide Developers Conference in San Jose, Calif.

In a side-by-side performance demo, the dual-processor version reportedly ran more than twice as fast as a current single-processor Power Mac G4 system.

Code-named Mystic, the dual-processor system reportedly has been in the works at least since last summer, with sources predicting an official announcement as early as July’s Macworld Expo in New York.
