Hotmail users lose address books, email

Some Microsoft Hotmail users – unable to access their email since last week – found that their personal folders, address book entries and saved mail have been deleted.

A Microsoft representative said Hotmail is working “around the clock” on the problem and expects that the data will be restored.

An unknown number of Hotmail users remain locked out of their accounts after a problem with one of its servers, which according to the company affected less than one-half of 1 percent of its 67 million users.
