Chip makers eye 0.10-micron process nodes

Coverage of the 2000 Symposium on VLSI Technology in Hawaii suggests that top chip manufacturers see 0.10-micron process nodes as a reality within a few years. A precursor to that goal, the fabrication of transistor gates with lengths less than 100-nanometers, has already been accomplished.
