Both Sega and Sony are fighting unauthorized usage battles in the legal arena. Sega is taking legal action against web sites that assist users seeking copies of Dreamcast games recently released onto the Web by programmers who have defeated the company’s copyright protections. Since Dreamcast, considered one of the most unbreakable systems, was “hacked” last week, several new games a day have gone into underground circulation. On a related front, Sony has refiled its patent suit against Connectix in an effort to stop the distribution of the software that allows PCs to run PlayStation games.
