U.S. gov still sending cookies

After the Clinton administration ordered the private sector to stop using cookies to gather information about Website visitors, privacy groups embarrassed those officials by revealing that many government sites were in violation of those same guidelines. Though federal Websites have officially been ordered to stop the use of cookies, a Wired News investigation says that the charge has been largely ignored and that many U.S. government sites, including some operated by the Department of Justice, are still collecting data about visitors.
