IBM promotes Linux in watch and supercomputer

IBM is demonstrating its commitment to Linux by showing off prototype computer wristwatches that run a pared-down version of the open source OS. The gadgets use ARM-based EP7211 processors by Cirrus Logic with 8MB of memory and 8MB of storage, infrared and wireless radio connection, and a touch-screen display. At the same time, the company is researching the use of Linux for its Blue Gene supercomputer. While Linux is an accepted OS for servers and other larger systems, the watch is an attempt to answer questions concerning its applicability for PDAs and other smaller system.
