SuSE to Linuxize the Sledgehammer

AMD has hired the German company SuSE, one of the top four sellers of Linux, to develop the programming tools needed to utilize their forthcoming 64-bit chip. Intel has already taken a similar path, hiring VA Linux Systems to help bring Linux to its 64-bit Itanium. AMD’s market has, thus far, been mostly among consumers but the combination of Linux and Sledgehammer could provide a point of entry into the business world for Advanced Micro Devices.
