Infineon to fight Rambus

Infineon Technologies announced from Munich today that it would not capitulate to charges by Rambus Inc. that the German chip company is violating Rambus patents covering high-speed synchronous DRAM technologies. This may signal an end to the easy winning streak of the California company which has gained royalty agreements covering non-Direct Rambus memories with Toshiba, Hitachi and Oki Electric in the last several months. Though knowledge of further negotiations between the two companies was denied by an Infineon spokesman, a Rambus executive said dialogue had resumed.
