German cabinet okays e-signatures

A bill making digital signatures legal, passed by the German cabinet, will solidify German, U.S. and European Commission positions on electronic proof of identity once it becomes law. The EC passed a digital signature directive December 13 and the United Kingdom’s e-signature law took effect on July 27. Japan, Belgium, and France also have similar measures pending.
