Rambus endangers US PC Market, analyst says

According to InQuest analyst Bert McComas, Rambus Inc.’s hardball legal tactics are threatening the entire U.S. computer industry. Rambus has filed suits in France and Germany against both Hyundai Electronics Industries and Micron Technology, after they challenged the legality of the company’s patents pertaining to synchronous DRAM and double data rate DRAM technology. Rambus also filed a complaint against Hyundai with the US International Trade Commission, seeking to ban the importation and sales of SDRAM and DDR in the US. If Rambus succeeds, says McComas, DRAM prices in the US would skyrocket while plummeting everywhere else, seriously hurting the entire US computer industry,
