NetMedia’s new SitePlayer is, reportedly, the smallest standalone Ethernet Web server on the market. Designed for home appliances, it is a 1.1″ x 0.9″ PC board needing only +5V DC power and an Ethernet connector to function. It consists of a Philips integrated 8051-based chip, a Realtek Ethernet controller, an oscillator crystal, and a connector. NetMedia’s system control program takes up less than 5K Bytes, supports the device’s internal functions and implements ARP, ICMP, BOOTP, UDP, TCP/IP, and HTTP. Prices start at $39 for one server and go down in volume.
