Ex-Soviet nuke scientists make electronic legs

According to a BusinessWeek writer, graphics chip firm NVidia is moving to buy 3dfx Interactive, the company that may soon win a major patent violation lawsuit against NVidia itself. The idea makes some sense, as whatever judgment might be levied against NVidia would then stay in the company. 3dfx Interactive would also be attractive to NVidia because of its low-power chip technology.

On the other hand, a skeptical writer for The Register notes that the whole story serves the interests of “One New York investment manager, a big 3dfx stakeholder,” who may have leaked the story in the first place.
