Intel confirms DDR-enabled P4 plans

According to IBM, it has sold the largest commercial use of the Linux operating system yet to Lawson Inc., a leading Japanese convenience store chain. More than 15,000 IBM computers, running Linux, will give customers Web access in the company’s 7,500 stores.

One market research group says that shipments of Linux will increase 144.4 percent this year in Japan to 41,200 units, representing 7.8 percent of the server-operating systems in the country.
