ASCAP wants to license Napster

The joint memory venture between Hitachi Ltd. and NEC Corp., Elpidia Memory Inc., is the sixth major memory maker to sign licensing agreements with Rambus Inc. for the use of SDRAM, DDR SDRAM and controllers. The move by Elpidia, almost a year hold, did not surprise analysts as both Hitachi and NEC had previously signed agreements with Rambus. It did, however, seem to be responsible for wiping out the last of the loss in stock value Rambus suffered when news of Intel’s plan to limit Rambus support to high-end products reached the financial press.
