Nvidia to support AMD DDR

A writer for MacWeek has summarized rumors that Apple might abandon Motorola’s PowerPC G4 chip in favor of an x86 CPU from Advanced Micro Devices Inc. or Intel Corp. Apple personnel have not confirmed any of the speculations but engineers say that the changeover could be accomplished without serious problems. A move to adopt x86 chips could increase performance and reduce costs but would require rebuilding the Mac OS X kernel, a task less difficult than it sounds because it is based on the Mach kernel that NeXT Software ran on x86 hardware.
