AMD roadmap aired at Comdex

Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. has announced that it is using a 0.17-micron design process to manufacture “third-generation” 128, 144, and 288Mb RDRAMs. The use of the 0.17-micron process, referring to the smallest element size, will result in greater speeds and, through smaller die size, lower costs. Samsung officials say that, due to the process, they expect to see 1 GHz RDRAMs. They also expect to see RDRAM revenues of $900 million in 2000 and $9.2 billion by 2002.
