X-ray crystallographers seek magic algorithm

The 1.30GHz Pentium 4 will, according to The Register, have a remarkably short shelf life. The microprocessor will be introduced at the end of January but will be priced out of the market in the second quarter when the price of the 1.4GHz Pentium 4 will fall to the 1.3GHz level. The reason is, reportedly, that Intel Corp. concentrated on verifying or testing higher-end chips at the cost of the slower chips, which will come relatively late to the scene.
