Symmetricom, Agere extend ADSL

Researchers from Harvard University and Bell Labs have found a way to dramatically increase wireless network bandwidth. Wireless signal is frequently scattered in urban areas but receivers are capable of recognizing and filtering the altered signals according to their polarization. The researchers have come upon the idea of intentionally scattering signal using three antennas set at right angles, each using a different part of the three-dimensional polarization field. The trick increases data capacity by a factor of six.
