Sony makes mobile phone PlayStation deal

A writer for The Register reports that a free software device driver, LinuxDisk, has the potential to radically cut mass storage costs by providing a bridge between inexpensive disks and a network, allowing Linux systems to become storage controllers. LinuxDisk uses a driver that makes inexpensive IDE disks appear as a SCSI or a Fiber Channel array.
