According to a Reuters story, Sony Corp. not only fumbled the roll-out of its PlayStation 2 game console, it offended many of the third party game software companies it needs to succeed. Some developers have complained that Sony’s once superb treatment of game writers changed when the company achieved its enormous success with the original PlayStation. Game development kits for the PS2 were reportedly delivered late to smaller software companies and even executives from first-tier companies like Electronic Arts have complained that Sony has not arranged a sufficient library of games to create a market. Other companies are miffed simply because they had counted on strong early sales, that were hurt when Sony could not deliver machines to market.
