Sony reveals "astounding" graphics engine

The denial-of-service attacks that shut down Microsoft’s network of Websites recently may be a thing of the past if VHB Technologies’ new Vipre parallel-processing ASIC chips do what many believe they can do. The integrated “cell sorter” system is designed to stop DoS attacks by performing deep packet classification to identify and block the storm of information requests, often disguised to appear as if they are coming from unique sources, that are directed at a site during an attack. The pre-processing cell sorter separates and sends packet headers to the Vipre engine, which analyzes and decides what to do with packets.
