PGP creator joins Hush

Microsoft Corp. representatives are trying to calm angry reactions to their Platforms Group VP’s statement last week that “open source is an intellectual-property destroyer.” Jim Allchin was “misunderstood,” according to the company. What he really meant to say, apparently, was that one paragraph in the GNU General Public License threatens innovation.

The paragraph reads, “You must cause any work that you distribute or publish, that in whole or in part contains or is derived from the Program or any part thereof, to be licensed as a whole at no charge to all third parties under the terms of this License.”
