Honda and IBM have announced that they are working together to create a navigation system in the Honda Accord that is integrated with voice recognition software. The interactive software is based on IBM’s Via Voice product, but has an expanded vocabulary and is capable of differentiating variations in speech patterns and accents, according to IBM. The system works by touching a button on the steering wheel and then speaking the request; the software responds using the Accord’s audio system by providing audible instructions in response to the request.
So, the next time you can’t find a gas station or need an ATM machine, ask your Honda!! Honda says this new interactive navigation system will be available in September on its 2003 model Honda Accords.
