Judge Rules Palm Did Not Infringe Copyrights

A U.S. District Court Federal judge has ruled that Palm, Inc. did not infringe the patent rights of E-Pass Technologies, Inc., with the development of the Palm Pilot. E-Pass manufactures “smart cards” which have an embedded computer chip that stores information on the card, and brought their claim against the Palm Pilot technology. In another case brought in Federal Court, the judge ruled that NCR’s claim that Palm infringed two of its patents for a hand held computer system with the Palm Pilot was not sustainable.
