Wayport To Deliver Wired/Wireless Broadband In Loews Hotels

Wayport, the leading provider of high-speed Wi-Fi (802.11b) wireless and wired Internet access in hotels and airports nationwide, today announced that it will provide broadband Internet service in seven properties operated by Loews Hotels, a conglomerate of one-of-a-kind hotels and resorts in the United States and Canada.

“Because we value the highest-quality guest experience, selecting Wayport as a partner was a natural fit for us, as they truly understand how to provide a seamless turnkey Internet solution and unsurpassed customer care,” said Charlotte St. Martin, Executive Vice President of Marketing for Loews Hotels. “In addition, Wayport has been in the industry longer than any other provider and offers ongoing sales and marketing support, which helps drive incremental business travel and meeting revenue to our properties.”

Wayport will provide high-speed wired Internet access in more than 2,200 guest rooms, Wi-Fi wireless access in common areas (such as lobbies), and both Wi-Fi wireless and wired access in more than 100 meeting facilities of Loews properties, including:

Loews Philadelphia Hotel
The Regency, a Loews Hotel, New York City
Loews Miami Beach Hotel
Loews Vanderbilt Hotel, Nashville
Loews Coronado Bay Resort, San Diego
Loews Denver Hotel
Loews Annapolis Hotel

“Our partnership with a brand the caliber of Loews Hotels is another illustration of the strategic expansion of Wayport’s network,” according to Dave Vucina, CEO of Wayport. “With more than 1 million customer connections to our network, it’s clear that business travelers value our service, and now they will have the opportunity to use it in a number of Loews’ exceptional properties.”

With Wayport, guests and meeting attendees can send and receive e-mail, access corporate networks, and surf the Internet, all at up to 50 times faster than a standard modem connection. Meeting planners can use the technology to interact in real time with facilitators and attendees, as the service supports applications such as webcasting and online conferencing. Installation has been completed at Loews Philadelphia Hotel and is scheduled to be completed in the remaining properties by September 30th.
