FIC to ship 1.5 million notebooks in 2003

Despite a sharp earnings revision last week, First International Computer (FIC) asserted that its outlook for the remainder of the year remains stable and that it stands by its 2002 shipment target of 1.2 million to 1.3 million notebooks. Relations with NEC are steady, it said, dispelling speculation about competitors grabbing orders from its biggest notebook client. After adding new PC vendors Medion AG of Germany and IIYAMA of Japan this year, FIC will further expand ties with regional clone, or non-brand, PC companies in 2003, which it said will take up 30% of its estimated shipments of 1.5 million units.
