While it came close to derailing, Quentin Tarantino’s Hateful Eight is gearing up to shoot in Colorado. Casting is coming together, but the script is now under much tighter wraps.

The Hollywood Reporter tells us that potential buyers of the film at the American Film Market have to read the screenplay in the Beverly Hills offices of The Weinstein Company under lockdown if they want to invest in the movie. (They are also under supervision while reading.)

This seems a bit odd because many people have read it already, and it was performed at an open reading in April. It’s always a given that Tarantino’s scripts will leak, but this time he threw a hissy fit over it, and suing Gawker over the leak. (The suit was later dropped.) The screenplay has also been reportedly rewritten, with the last chapter, Black Night, White Hell, getting a big reworking.

Accroding to Deadline, Channing Tatum is up for a major role in the film, and the cast so far includes Samuel L. Jackson (surprised?), Kurt Russell, Tim Roth, Michael Madsen, and Jennifer Jason Leigh.

The Hateful Eight is set to begin shooting in January, and it will be shot on 65mm celluloid. According to Collider, it will have the biggest wide release of a movie on 70mm in twenty years when it’s unleashed next Fall.
