YouTube and Netflix: Quien Es Mas Macho?

As an acknowledged YouTube addict, I know all too well how hard it is to pull myself away from it. But what does America watch more? Netflix or YouTube?

According to a report in the L.A. Times, YouTube is the supreme ruler of online viewing, even though people watch an average of 92 minutes a day on NetFlix. And indeed, a report on Cnet tells us that more people got to YouTube for online TV than both NetFlix and Hulu.

We think the easy convenience of YouTube is a factor, and as a source told Cnet, “The joke in the industry is it’s all babies burping and cats meowing, and maybe YouTube was that. When they actually go and use it, people are surprised by the breadth of content that’s there.”

Again, as a long time YouTube lover, I wondered where it had been all my life. It’s really fun to go from clip to clip, and basically program your own little private network on your laptop. And thank God for Hulu too. My idea of happiness after work is settling in to The White Shadow, The Brady Bunch and Lou Grant. (Thank God they have Irwin Allen’s Land of the Giants too, now I don’t have to buy the box set.)
