Intel Cranks Up Centrino Speed

Intel has increased the speed of its Centrino mobile technology package, cut the cost of the system’s processor component and announced the imminent release of improved security software for the product that was launched with fanfare in March. “The world’s leading chip manufacturer on Monday unveiled a 1.70 GHz processor, a low-voltage 1.20 GHz chip and an ultra-low-voltage, chip running at 1.0GHz for the Centrino product line, which includes the Pentium M processor, 855 chipset and Wi-Fi (802.11b) wireless local area networking (WLAN) technology for broadband Internet access.”.
