New Bulb May Power Electronics

A new type of tungsten filament – the world’s most widely used light source – may emit enough energy to power electric cars, generators, and consumer electronics, say researchers at Sandia National Laboratories. Normal light bulbs have little effect on photovoltaic cells, which change light at certain wavelengths into electricity.
