Intel Replaces Silicon in Chip Breakthrough

Intel says it has made a major breakthrough in chip technology with the development of a new material that replaces silicon in the manufacturing of transistors. The material, called “high-k,” promises to reduce electrical current leakage in transistors, a growing problem for chip manufacturers that relates directly to Moore’s Law.
